Traffic Flow Ltd is a subsidiary company of Birse Civils Ltd, part of the Balfour
Beatty Group of Companies. We were formed in 2005 to provide specialist traffic
management services, fundamentally to our sister companies.
Since then we have worked on more than 70 contracts – the largest being Sheffield’s Inner Relief Road, lasting two-and-a-half years – and our annual turnover has grown to £2 million. We now work for other, ‘not competitor’ companies outside the Balfour Beatty Group who wish to take advantage of our experience and expertise.

- Assistance with quality submissions for tenders or ECI schemes. We can assist with the traffic management element and produce layout drawings to enhance submissions, and, if required, form part of your partnered team.
- An in-house design capability, producing CAD drawings using the latest software. We can design the whole scheme for you from scratch or help you to refine a scheme you have started to work up.
- Seeking any necessary consents/approvals and liaising with local authorities, the police and maintaining agents.
- Traffic light schemes from two-way to multi-phase.
- Contraflows.
- Road closures and diversions.
- Convoy operations through sensitive safety zones.
- 24/7 maintenance.
- Vehicle restraint barriers.
- Supply of traffic management materials (including signs designed and manufactured in-house) for hire or purchase.
- Fully qualified, professional Traffic Safety and Control Officers to monitor
schemes.
We are accredited to BS EN ISO 19001 and ISO 14001 for quality assurance and
also OHSAS 18001 for health and safety. We are also accredited to National Highways
