Birse Coastal is a specialist unit and trading name of Birse Civils, in turn a wholly-owned subsidiary of Balfour Beatty Group plc.
We focus solely on works in the coastal / marine sector, undertaking a diverse range of projects valued between £0.5m and £80m.
Our team has a reputation for technical excellence, outstanding service delivery
and extensive experience in the construction of coastal defences, especially in
popular tourist areas. This allows us to work with our customers and partners
to maximise the available programme and budget, identify technical, commercial
and programming risks to the project and introduce effective mitigation measures
based on successful measures employed elsewhere.
Our proven track record has helped to make Birse Coastal one of the largest coastal
contractors in the UK and explains why over 80% of our work is repeat business
from extremely satisfied customers.
It has also helped us to secure a place as one of only three companies on the
Environment Agency’s National Contractors Framework for coastal works.

Birse Coastal place first block in Redcar flood alleviation scheme
Birse Coastal, part of Birse Civils, has placed the first of 1,000 inter-locking reinforced concrete blocks on the new £30 million sea wall in Redcar.
