Our experience includes both precast and in-situ concrete revetments and recurve sea walls to minimise over-topping.  Birse Coastal have strategic partnerships in place for the provision of pre-cast units which adds value to the design process, as well as reduces risks associated with working in the inter-tidal zone.  We have developed a specific expertise in the handling and placing of fibre reinforced units using vacuum lifting technology, which avoids the need for both lifting points and steel reinforcement.  This is proven to help the integrity and expected life-span of the units.

The construction of proprietary armour defences is another core competence of Birse Coastal.  We are fully conversant with the installation techniques for all types of PCC armour units, including interlocking and hollow units.

Birse Coastal are experienced in the procurement, transport (by land and sea) and placing of all grades of rock, achieving the optimum void ratios. We have strategic partnership in place with major quarrying organisations and specialists in this field, which means that we can add value at all stages in the project delivery cycle.

Birse Coastal have extensive experience both in house and through our partnered supply chain of undertaking large cliff stabilisation works. This includes initial survey works, advise on timing of works to maximise weather windows, choice of specialist plant and equipment to deal with varying ground types. Our specialist safety knowledge of working at heights in restricted environments ensures all risks are identified, managed and mitigated.

We have extensive experience of delivering high quality, public realm infrastructure, particularly within a coastal environment, including promenade enhancements, car parks and public gardens.  This includes all aspects of hard and soft landscaping, street furniture and lighting.  We are also experienced in the provision of transport infrastructure within this environment.
