  • Academic Research initiatives and papers such as Latham & Egan Effects on Procurement Strategies and Methods and Trust in Construction.
  • Membership of regional M4i clusters and numerous Demonstration Projects.
  • Membership of the Warwick University Manufacturing Group DETR Supply Chain Management programme
We also carry out a programme of meeting with directors of our contemporaries in the market place:
  • to share information
  • to provide a platform to work together for the corporate good and to benefit the construction community

Working with Suppliers

Our supply chain management policy has been developed with our key suppliers, who are fundamental to our success

Over the past few years we have introduced processes to bring us closer to fewer subcontractors and suppliers. The benefits are:-
  • More streamlined working practices
  • Better efficiency and longer term relationships, meaning issues can be resolved quickly and amicably
  • A better appreciation of our suppliers' capabilities, goals and costs
  • Better communication and understanding of each other's needs
  • Better working relationships
  • A continuous improvement in the way we work together
  • Increased margins for ourselves and suppliers, whilst remaining competitive
As the market place moves towards frameworks and longer term working relationships we will mirror this in our supply chain. Some national supply chain arrangements are in place within Birse Civils and more will be formed.
