ZERO HARM

Make safety personal

The Balfour Beatty Group has embarked on a journey
to achieve ZERO HARM by 2012.

The primary goals of ZERO HARM are:
  •     Zero fatalities
  •     No seriously disabling injuries
  •     No long term harm to health
Our approach will be to embed the Zero Harm principle in all our processes.

Zero Harm ranks among the biggest challenges we’ve faced.  The crucial work we have already started on behavioural change, involving not only Birse Civils employees but also our supply chain partners, will help us make the step-changes necessary to achieve these objectives. Above all, we’ll be calling on everyone to “Make Safety Personal”.

We will be using a “Zero Harm Journey Plan” to focus our activities and drive improvements. Regular updates on our progress can be found on our dedicated ZERO HARM website.

It’s going to be an exciting journey and we invite you – whether you are one of our subcontractors or one of their employees, a supplier of materials or plant, a customer or a member of the public – to join us on it.

We don’t have all the answers yet but we do have knowledge, creativity and a determination to achieve this goal.
